Our Journey: Homeschooling Preschool & School Age Children
Our experience homeschooling a 2 and 9-year-old
Families today are striving to find a work-life balance and spend more time with their little ones. After all, our children are only little for such a short period of time. Many families are choosing to homeschool their children for this very reason. I am included in this category and here are my thoughts.
Homeschool preschool
Our family in particular, chose to homeschool our 9-year-old so that we could travel and have more flexibility. We chose Growing Brilliant classes for our 2-year-old preschool aged child (classes are for ages 2-6) because we have her home with us as well. She attends a play-based co-op preschool a couple times per week and she attends our Growing Brilliant classes on the other days.
Virtual at-home education
We love the Growing Brilliant homeschool preschool classes for our toddler because she is able to learn academic concepts in a fun way through hands-on activities. She gets to sing, color, paint, and even play with play-dough. She always gets so excited to see her teacher and loves getting the supplies ready for class. It is so cute to see her reaction when the teacher calls on her specifically and she gets to engage with her directly. This is something we could never get from a YouTube video. Learning colors, shapes, counting, literacy, fine-motor skills, and vocabulary building
Right now, she is showing an interest in learning colors, letters, and counting to 10. Our online classes are perfect for her because they reinforce the skills she is already interested in learning. The Early Explorers program is for 2-3 year old children and focuses on skills that are age appropriate. She works on colors, shapes, counting, literacy, fine-motor skills, and vocabulary building. She has learned so many new words since starting and is talking so much more now! As she gets older she can attend the Little Learners (ages 3-4), Kindergarten Readiness (ages 4-5), and even the Kindergarten Club (ages 5-6). I love that she can grow with the program.
A lifetime of learning
My 9-year-old daughter attended our online homeschool preschool program from ages 4-6 and she is thriving right now in third grade. I believe this is because she went into kindergarten with the strong foundation she learned through Growing Brilliant. Not only did she master many academic skills, but she also learned important social skills needed for school like taking turns, raising her hand, speaking to a group, and listening to others.
Overall, this homeschool preschool program has been amazing for our family! We are not just owners, we are long-term customers as well. We have really seen the benefits not just in our own children but also in the thousands of other children we have helped educate over the years!
The best part, you can try a class free here. You don’t need even need a credit card.
